With a long history of serving local people, Aylesbury’s vibrant market has a reputation for being fair and friendly. In the heart of the historic town, it attracts both traditional traders and budding entrepreneurs so there’s always someone interesting to talk to and unique items to buy.

Aylesbury has a general market and two specialist markets

  • Our historic general market operates every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9am – 2pm. From fish and flowers to fashion and fabrics, there’s a wonderful array of products on sale.
  • Foodie Friday every Friday, 9am – 2pm. Treat yourself to the tasty bites on offer, perfect for lunch out or stocking up.

We have speciality markets throughout the year, including Vegan markets on certain Sundays and markets that join the Vintage and Craft Bazaar, keep an eye out for more information.

The market regularly hosts events and demonstrations – check our What’s On pages for how we’re celebrating the annual Love your Local Market fortnight, which takes place every May.

Interested in getting your own stall on the market?

Whether you’re just starting out and want to get your brand out there and test the waters, or you’d like to extend your existing venture in a new area, a market stall in Aylesbury is perfect for you.

Becoming a trader is a low-cost, low-risk way to turn your dream into a reality.

Aylesbury Market is managed by Buckinghamshire Council. The council is committed to investing in, developing and promoting markets to improve and retain the essential heart of our local towns.

Start small and grow

Being a trader is an ideal way into retail for any budding entrepreneur.  In fact the founders of some of the country’s most successful High Street names started out on a market stall – Morrisons, Marks and Spencer and JJB Sports to name a few.

Flexibility

Market trading allows you to be flexible and take your trade to your customers, without paying expensive long-term property leases, business rates and possibly service charges.  You can also choose which days you would like to work.

Develop your skills

Trading allows you to be your own boss and develop self-discipline.  It’s also a great way to build many other skills essential for success, such as sales and negotiation.

The market provides an opportunity for you to get first hand feedback about your product, assess customers’ needs and make product changes – the internet can’t do that.

Make connections

Market trading offers a great way of life in many aspects.  You will have the opportunity to interact with the public, as well as fellow traders, building a great network of customers, colleagues and you will play an integral part in helping to keep the heart of the town buzzing.

Why Aylesbury market?

Low cost

Our incentive scheme allows you to build up your business in Aylesbury by reducing the financial burden for the first month of trading.

Regular event days

We celebrate key event days throughout the year including Valentine’s Day and St George’s Day, to name but a few. You will often find different activities planned including music or face painting. Aylesbury was proud to win a National award recently for its involvement in Love Your Local Market and continues to support this initiative.

Planned improvements

A number of initiatives have been introduced to improve the market for traders and shoppers. These include a considerable investment in replacing all the stalls, development of an events programme, reviewing the power supply, and providing greater payment options to traders.

Trader communication

We have a passionate team that has a strong ethos and works closely with traders. Regular communication updates are provided through trader meetings, bi monthly newsletter and Facebook.

We are here to help you succeed. Convert your dream in to reality by heading to our traders welcome page, which includes a video and more guidance.
