Aylesbury Library has joined with libraries across Bucks to launch the Summer Reading Challenge, Wild World Heroes.
Wild World Heroes is a celebration of reading, nature and action for the environment. Developed in partnership with WWF – the world’s leading independent conservation organisation – Wild World Heroes will inspire children to stand up for the future of our planet.
Children are encouraged to read six books (including eBooks and eAudio) and can find book recommendations and access lots of fun activities at: summerreadingchallenge.org.uk
New for 2021 is a pre-school mini challenge suitable for children aged 3 years and under. It’s a great way to encourage families with younger children to regularly borrow and read books over the summer – especially if older siblings are taking part in the main challenge.
With ideas from WWF, the main challenge focuses on action for nature and tackling real-world environmental issues, from plastic pollution and deforestation to wildlife decline and nature loss.
This year Summer Reading Challenge will end on Saturday 4 September, and more information on the programme can be found at: buckinghamshire.gov.uk/libraries-blog
