Aylesbury town centre has received two prestigious awards, in recognition of a commitment to achieving and maintaining high standards of safety.

Firstly, a Safer Business award has been granted by the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships, acknowledging the good work of the Aylesbury Business Against Crime partnership, whose members include local shopping centres, libraries, schools, parking wardens and care homes.

Along with other towns across the UK, Aylesbury is taking positive steps to deal with anti-social behaviour. Examples of successful local initiatives include a digital radio scheme which links more than 70 shops in the town, the Pub Watch CCTV scheme, which now provides 24-hour coverage to help deter anti-social behaviour, and the newly launched Nightwatch scheme, which has been set up to help protect vulnerable children in the Vale.

Also, the Association of Town Centre Management is granting Aylesbury one of its illustrious Purple Flag awards for a third time, having once again judged the town centre to provide a safe and enjoyable night out, with safe options available for everyone to travel home afterwards.

Purple Flag awards are given to places which can show that they are welcoming to visitors and residents, with a high standard of leisure and entertainment facilities, restaurants and bars.
