A massive congratulations to all of the teams who took part, along with the crowds of spectators and supporters, who all made Aylesbury’s first Soapbox Derby a great success and fantastic day out for everyone. The time, effort, skill and commitment which was put into the twenty-one spectacular karts was clear to see. The capacity line-up, included entries from children as young as five to a team of Men in a Shed. Visitors on the day voted for their favourite kart, their clear winner was the Bees Knees kart designed, built and raced by Jim Webster. Special commendation has to go to 15 year old Tom Wylam from Haddenham, whose Wiggle Auto Racing kart, built with his dad and sister Amelia, 12, won the fastest combined time for an amateur kart, just 3.8 seconds behind the winning corporate kart from Lentus Composites. If you are interested in taking part next year, please email: info@aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk to receive the registration details when they are confirmed in early 2016.
