Aylesbury Market was once again extremely proud to take part in the national ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign, which ran from 17-31 May.
Foodie Friday Live provided tasters and cooking demonstrations and launched a fantastic fortnight of different market activities. These included performances by vintage vocal harmony trio The Bluebird Belles and The Mk Swing Dancers – who got the public up and dancing.
Famous antique valuer John Bly was welcomed on to the Vintage & Craft Bazaar, offering free valuations of personal items. The market was also delighted to welcome back Fifi la Mer, who delighted visitors with musical renditions from her accordion.
The Ellesborough Silver Band returned to entertain the market, on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. There was also an opportunity for children to engage with the market over the school holidays by playing some giant games that filled Market Square including, Jenga, Snakes and Ladders and Connect 4.
One visitor who brought items for John Bly to value, said: ”I enjoyed all that Mr Bly told me about my items and found it really interesting.”
John Bly commented: “The atmosphere is magic on the market, and the people are lovely.”
Another visitor said she had such fun dancing along to The Bluebird Belles, and it was good to see people enjoying themselves.
Winslow Wednesday Market also took part in this year’s celebrations, which included a face painter and giveaways of fridge magnet notelets.

“We’re delighted to energise the market by bringing in a variety of different activities that can be enjoyed by all generations. And we’ve received some fantastic feedback from the public and traders about the ambience the activities created in the market.
“We’ve worked closely with the traders during this time, and we’re especially pleased that the market has been awarded fur free status during this campaign.”
