It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and nothing marks the start of the festive season better than the annual Aylesbury Light Switch On in Market Square on Thursday 16 November.

Mirror, mirror on the wall – we have the wickedest line-up of them all! Star of this year’s must-see pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Su Pollard is taking to the stage to hit the button, alongside fellow cast mates Andy Collins and larger-than-life La Voix – returning due to popular demand.

Su said: “I’m honoured to have been invited to turn on the town’s Christmas lights. Aylesbury’s going to be my Christmas home, so it will be a true pleasure to light up the town and see lots of the locals turning out en masse. I can’t wait to work up the crowd! As Wicked Queen, I won’t go home happy until I’ve heard a load of boos and cheers. This is will be the perfect warm up to the panto run!”

The Aylesbury Christmas lights switch-on event, hosted by Mix96 and managed by the Town Centre Partnership, will take place between 5.30pm and 7.30pm in Aylesbury’s Market Square along with a funfair in Kingsbury. There will be a wide range of street food available, including hand-made pizza, hot chestnuts, German sausages, savoury crepes, Cadbury’s flavoured hot chocolate and fudge! The lights will be switched on at 7pm and will be followed by a glittering fireworks display.

Visitors should make sure they arrive early to enjoy a packed line-up of live entertainment courtesy of Aylesbury Vale radio station Mix96. This includes an incredible selection of local artists as featured on Mix96 Discovers, including dream pop/rock band Blushes from Aylesbury and singersongwriter Lucy Mair from Chesham (who beatboxes rhythms and builds every song with her loop pedals!) Aylesbury Glee Club will kick off the night and house band The Zefrones are returning due to popular demand.

There will be an extra sprinkling of dazzling entertainment courtesy of Mix96 Bucks’ Got Talent Page 2 of 2 competition acts. Aylesbury Town Centre Manager Diana Fawcett said: “There are a wide range of Christmas activities in Aylesbury during November and December, both for families and shoppers. The Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership is delighted to be hosting these phenomenally popular events.”
