This course will introduce you to beginner drawing techniques- looking at equipment, how to show depth through shading and perspective, and how to draw through identifying shape, form and texture.

This workshop is aimed at beginners to drawing, and art in general, and those looking to improve their drawing skill. Adults (age 15 years +)

Students should bring a selection of pencils (H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), an A4 sketch pad or regular paper, a rubber, a putty rubber, a pencil sharpener and a ruler.

About the Tutor:

Leila Ward is a Tring-based artist who studied Art and Design at Loughborough University School of Art and Design. She has experimented with different mediums over the years, and particularly likes drawing/ painting animals, and using watercolour, acrylic, and printing techniques. Leila runs the Tring Art Society, and enjoys making art more accessible to others, showing people that anyone can create art.

Working with our lovely copper pack, we will learn how to emboss a beautiful hanging metal work, using only a nail to creature texture. Send to a loved one, hang in the garden or on a walk, or save until Christmas. Wonderful relaxing, and always stunning results.

Materials:

Your course fee includes a bundle of materials needed to complete the class, including a copper sheet, some greyboard, a nail, paperclips and a template. This can be collected from QPAC ahead of the course.

Find your Creativity with easy to follow technique to create abstract acrylic paintings using a palette knife and a brush. This course led by tutor Rofaida Makki is perfect for complete beginners. Rofaida will show you how to turn any concept or composition into art.

Using the pinch pot technique, you will be making a quirky penguin

Materials:

Your course fee includes 1kg of clay, which can be collected from QPAC ahead of the course. Clay is easy to clean from surfaces, and is non-toxic.

– Old plastic bag
– Water sprayer (e.g. old cleaning product bottle sprayer)
– Sharp pointed knife
– Wooden spatula or lollipop stick
– Sharp nail/pin/sharp pencil
– Old newspapers
– Piece of wood to place your work on
– Water
– Old toothbrush
– Small sponge

Once the course is finished, you will need to contact QPAC to book a delivery slot to bring the finished piece in for firing.

Teen artists and invited to join us for an enjoyable and relaxing online workshop where you will learn to paint a lovely colourful floral wreath in watercolour.

Suitable for beginners (aged 13+)

Materials:

For an additional charge of £28 you can purchase a materials bundle, which can be collected from QPAC ahead of the course. The bundle includes:

– Watercolour paint set (including two brushes)
– White gouache
– Watercolour A4 pad
– Masking fluid
