Come along to the exciting ‘Final Chapter’ of the Queens Park Arts Centre 500 Words Challenge, taking place at this year’s WhizzFizzFest on Saturday 22 June in Aylesbury town centre.

Earlier this year, WhizzFizzFest highlighted that Aylesbury’s much-loved family-friendly literary and arts festival isn’t just about reading stories, but writing them too. And with this, festival friends Queens Park Arts Centre launched their debut 500 Words Challenge, inviting aspiring authors aged 5 -13 to submit their own original 500-word story, written in any genre or style they could imagine!

After months of hard work and creative thinking by lots of local children, six fabulous finalists have been chosen and their stories will be brought to life as part of a fun, free, family event in WhizzFizzFest’s Main Marquee at 3.30pm… And everyone’s invited!

The event will be the exciting climax to WhizzFizzFest’s debut 500 Words Challenge, with actors from local theatre company, Unbound Theatre, reading aloud the finalists’ stories. Three stunning dance and musical performances from Adele Peters Performing Arts School  will leave festival-goers amazed and entertained as they eagerly await the final result of the judges – there’s even a free goody bag up for grabs for children!

Dario Knight, Theatre & Marketing Manager – Queens Park Arts Centre, commented: “We’re delighted so many young people have taken part in this fantastic challenge and it’s safe to say there are many budding young authors in Aylesbury Vale. Thank you to everyone who entered, and good luck to our magnificent finalists whose stories will be brought to life by the talented team at Unbound Theatre. This event is definitely not one to be missed!”

The judging panel will include representatives from Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC), Queens Park Arts Centre and Unbound Theatre, as well as some of Aylesbury Vale’s incredible local authors and other WhizzFizzFest festival friends.

Tickets for this fantastic FREE event will be available from 6pm on Thursday 9 May 2019. Tickets and more information can be found by visiting: www.whizzfizzfest.org.uk/tickets
