In this Tea and Talk join Brett Thorn, our Keeper of Archaeology as he looks at some of the most interesting recent Treasure acquisitions, and how the Portable Antiquities Scheme, and the Treasure process help us to save these beautiful pieces of the county’s heritage. From Bronze Age gold bracelets to Tudor love rings, if it’s gold or silver, and at least 300 years old, it may be Treasure. Items that are legally “Treasure” are regularly found across the county, most often by metal detectorists, and the museum has the opportunity to acquire these – if we can raise the funds!
The talk will last approx. 30 minutes and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions after as you relax with your cream tea!
