Aylesbury market has a reputation for being fair and friendly, with a long history of serving local people. In the heart of the historic town, it regularly hosts events and was proud to win an award in 2012 for its part in the national Love Your Local Market initiative.
We have two Aylesbury markets
- Our historic general market operates every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. You can find some fabulous bargains at the market and buy fresh fish and meat at our Foodie Friday market ready for the weekend.
- Our fascinating Vintage and Craft Bazaar operates every Tuesday from 9am until 3pm and you are always sure to find a treasure trove of surprises. Feel free to bring any items you wish to sell to our traders who will be more than happy to talk to you.
Some of our regular traders on Aylesbury market include: fresh fruit and vegetables, cakes and sweet treats, honey, ready meals and jams and chutneys.
Thinking about becoming an Aylesbury Market Trader?
Aylesbury Market is owned by Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) and managed by the Aylesbury Town Centre Management Team. AVDC are committed to investing in, developing and promoting markets to improve and retain the essential heart of our local towns.
If you are thinking of starting a new business, or want to extend your existing venture in a new area, then a market stall is perfect for you.
Becoming a market trader is a low-cost, low-risk way to turn your business dream into a reality.
Start small and grow
Being a trader is an ideal way into retail for any budding entrepreneur. In fact the founders of some of the country’s most successful High Street names started out on a market stall – Morrisons, Marks and Spencer and JJB Sports to name a few.
Market trading allows you to be flexible and take your trade to your customers, without paying expensive long-term property leases, business rates and possibly service charges. You can also choose which days you would like to work.
Develop your skills
Trading allows you to be your own boss and develop self-discipline. It’s also a great way to build many other skills essential for business, such as sales and negotiation.
The market provides an opportunity for you to get first hand feedback about your product, assess customers’ needs and make product changes – the internet can’t do that.
Market trading offers a great way of life in many aspects. You will have the opportunity to interact with the public, as well as fellow traders, building a great network of customers, colleagues and will play an integral part in helping to regenerate a local town.
Why Aylesbury market?
Our incentive scheme allows you to build up your business in Aylesbury by reducing the financial burden for the first month of trading.
Regular event days
We celebrate key event days throughout the year including Valentine’s Day and St George’s Day, to name but a few. We supply free balloons for you to give to your customers and you will often find different activities planned including music or face painting. Aylesbury was proud to win a National award recently for its involvement in Love Your Local Market and continues to support this initiative.
A number of initiatives have been introduced to improve the market for traders and shoppers. These include a considerable investment in replacing all the stalls, development of an events programme, reviewing the power supply, providing greater payment options to traders and re-launching the Tuesday market to become a Vintage and Craft bazaar.
We have a passionate town centre management team that has a strong ethos and works closely with traders. Regular communication updates are provided through trader meetings, bi monthly newsletter and Facebook.
