Two-day Course: Drawing to Scale

Loading Events

With Susan Kudo

This course takes place over two consecutive Fridays.

During this workshop, students will learn how to draw (in pencil) a 1:50 elevation drawing of the Queens Park Arts Centre. At the end of the workshop, we will connect the drawings together to create one long elevation drawing. Initially working as a group, we will survey the exterior of the building by taking measurements and sketches. We will then return to the classroom to set out our drawings and work (mostly) independently to create our own scale drawings filled with your own details and observations.

What to bring:

A good quality selection of drawing pencils including HB, 2H, H and F is recommended although an HB on its own will suffice if necessary. A good quality rubber and a hard backed sketchbook (around A5 size) will also be needed. The Centre has some materials that can be used on the day, however quality and quantity cannot be guaranteed. Susan recommends Tombow or Mitsubishi pencils. You may also want to bring a scale ruler if you have one.

There will be a break for lunch in the middle of each day. Drinks and snacks are available from the onsite Coffee Bar, but you may want to bring your own packed lunch with you.
