FREE and low-cost family fun this summer in Aylesbury
If you are looking for some low-cost ways to keep the family entertained over the summer holidays there are some great events and activities on offer in Aylesbury.
The library is running the ever-popular summer reading challenge. This year the theme is Marvellous Makers so why not pop along and sign up, it’s a great way to engage children in reading over the summer. The library is also hosting a range of events throughout the holidays including crafts, coding and story time!
Friars Square Shopping Centre will be running some free activity days with entertainment and craft activities. In the centre you can also find the free to play Ping Pong Parlour. Additionally in Friars square pop into The Space to find out about Aylesbury in days gone by with a free exhibition from Buckinghamshire Archives and Aylesbury Community Board.
Aylesbury Town Council have organised a free Paralympics Summer Quiz Trail honouring Aylesbury as the birthplace of the Paralympics. The trail takes your around the town centre following a map and answers can be submitted online for the chance to win a prize!
The Town Council have also been busy preparing for Parklife Weekend which is coming to Vale Park over the bank holiday weekend. This is a fantastic free community festival with fun and entertainment for all the family.
You can enjoy a Summer of Fun at Discover Bucks Museum with lots of low-cost creative craft activities and new for the summer you can visit the May the Toys be With You exhibition. This exciting exhibition of vintage toys and posters brings you a chance to see many rarely seen Star Wars treasures.
Outside of the town centre kids go free for a Summer of Play at Waddeson Manor and children ride for just £1 at the Summer Steaming events at Buckinghamshire Railway.
If you enjoy exploring you can download the free Love Exploring app which provides some interactive fun. You can hunt for dinosaurs and mini beasts in the town centre at Market Square or in several parks and green spaces around Aylesbury. Our parks and green spaces are also the perfect place for some outdoor fun and games, picnics and a great meeting place for family and friends.
