The May half term and spring bank holiday is upon us.  If you are looking for family fun and entertainment there is lots going on in and around Aylesbury.

Throughout the week you can discover the wonders of space at Discover Bucks Museum with hands on fun for the whole family including space science, space puppets and space sculpture plus lots more!  You can also check out their new exhibition, Beyond the Stars: A Propmaker’s Guide to the Galaxy.  Discover the art of Sci-Fi special effects with original models and props used in classic British TV shows including Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!

On Tuesday 27 May Friars Square Shopping Centre are hosting some entertaining half term balloon fun.  Head over from 11am to 3pm for Captain Calamity’s Balloon Party — a day of colourful chaos and inflatable fun!

Over at the Waterside Theatre you can enjoy more science fun with a live stage show brought to you by the Science Museum! The unmissable family production is sure to capture the imagination of young and old alike and teach you something new and exciting too.

Queens Park Arts Centre are running a pottery workshop where you can sculpt a woodland house and use your imagination to fill it with stories of their inhabitants!

Out of town there is fun to be had at a number of our local attractions; Hogshaw Farm are offering a country féte inspired week of family fun at Hogfest.  Aswell as the usual animal encounters you can visit the baby ‘Big Top’ for daily circus workshops and performances. You can also take part in the ‘have-a-go’ farm trail and enjoy a miniature train ride. If trains are your thing you can enjoy a Day Out with Thomas at Buckinghamshire Railways Centre on 25 and 26 May.  As well as lots of train rides there will be other fun activities to enjoy and a chance to meet Sir Topham Hatt. If you love art or nature Waddesdon might be the perfect place to visit as they celebrate nature with the UK’s leading land and nature-based artists and a schedule of activities this May half-term.
