Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) was saddened to hear about the passing of much-loved author and illustrator Judith Kerr, who will be sorely missed at this year’s WhizzFizzFest.
Taking place on Saturday 22 June, 10.30am – 5.30pm, WhizzFizzFest, Aylesbury’s family-friendly literary and arts festival, had included Judith Kerr alongside Cressida Cowell and Nick Butterworth as part of its exciting literary line-up. To honour and celebrate the life and work of the late Judith Kerr, festival-goers are invited to join AVDC at a special free-to-attend ticketed event in the Main Marquee at 2.30pm.
Acclaimed film-maker Jill Nicholls first got to know Judith Kerr when making ‘Hitler, the Tiger and Me‘, a celebrated documentary about Judith’s life and work for BBC One’s Imagine strand. For its special event, WhizzFizzFest will be welcoming Jill to Aylesbury town centre to talk about Judith’s life and work while sharing memories of their friendship. There will also be clips from the film which saw Judith return to the house from which she and her family fled the Nazis in Berlin, a visit to the zoo in Berlin, and a look at the kitchen that inspired ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea‘.
